In collaboration with the Japan Foundation, Panorama Journal are thrilled to present six films at the Howard Theatre, Downing College; as part of the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2023.
Tickets are available as passes for the weekend or individual days. The Heong Gallery’s exhibition Picturing the Invisible will be open 12-5pm each day.
WELCOME & OPENING REMARKS: Saturday 18 March @ 9.30am
A brief talk will touch on independent cinema, literature, and the arts. Speakers will highlight efforts in the city to develop vibrant cultural spaces at sites such as the Mill Road Free Library; bringing various disciplines, voices, and people together.
The films will begin from 10am on Saturday 18 March, with three different films screened each day.

EXHIBITION: PICTURING THE INVISIBLE
Over the weekend, the Heong Gallery’s exhibition Picturing the Invisible will be open 12-5pm each day. Curated by Dr Makoto Takahashi, this exhibition seeks to provide a vivid depiction of the social and political realities of life in the wake of ‘3.11’, the Great East Japan earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima Daiichi disaster. Picturing the Invisible brings together seven talented photographers, working in the affected territories, each bringing a different perspective to the theme, touching on radiation, trauma, and the resilience of those communities rebuilding their lives.
