This talk forms part of The Cambridge Modern and Contemporary Art Seminar Series.
Niamh O’Malley will discuss the evolution of her sculptural and filmic practice which she sees as both lure and demand, for touch, encounter, and occupancy and ask what it means to engage in the material practice of making objects at this time.
Born Co Mayo, Ireland, Niamh O’Malley currently lives and works in Dublin and works with moving image alongside sculptural materials such as glass, wood metal and stone. Niamh O’Malley, with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios as the curator, represented Ireland at the 59th Venice Art Biennale in 2022. She has made numerous solo exhibitions including, in recent years including John Hansard Gallery Southampton, mother’s tankstation limited, RHA, Dublin, Lismore Castle Arts, Grazer Kunstverein, Bluecoat Liverpool & Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin
The event will take place on Zoom. The zoom link will be circulated via email to registered attendees.
About The Cambridge Modern and Contemporary Art Seminar Series:
The MaCA Seminar meets every other week during full term at 5pm, hosting a range of speakers including scholars, artists and curators. For the academic year 2022/23 the open meetings will take place remotely via zoom and at the History of Art Department when possible. A Zoom link will be circulated via email to those who register.
