Description

Organised by art historian Katayoun Shahandeh (SOAS) and sound artist Fari Bradley, this one- day symposium will bring together women academics and artists of Iranian origin to speak about the role of the visual and performing arts in the movement for women’s rights in Iran. Confirmed speakers include Sepy Baghaei (Theatre Director), Dr Kristin Soraya Batmanghelichi (University of Oslo), Dr Evaleila Pesaran (University of Cambridge), and Mitra Tabrizian (Artist/ Filmmaker). The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Layla Diba (Art Historian/ Curator). The event will be live- streamed.

Access statement:
The Howard Theatre is accessible via a lift (1st floor), and wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities are also available via a lift (Basement Level). In the theatre, there is padded seating, designated spaces for wheelchair users, and sufficient space for an assistance dog. There is a hearing loop facility available by request IN ADVANCE. Lighting levels will be low during the event. You are free to arrive, leave, stand up, lie down, or take a break at any time, without giving a reason.
