Prerona Prasad is Curator of The Heong Gallery at Downing College. An accidental curator, Prerona still thought her future lay in tenth-century Byzantine history when she started working part-time at The Heong Gallery in January 2016. She curated her first exhibition in 2017 with The Best of All Possible Worlds: Quentin Blake and the Folio Society. Since then, she has curated Larger than Life: Dame Elisabeth Frink, Halfway: Stuart Pearson Wright, Kip Gresham: The Art of Collaboration, We Are Here: Women in Art at Cambridge Colleges, Of the Earth: Contemporary Ceramics and Glass from The Fitzwilliam Museum, Lucy Van Pelt: Director of Everything, and Gavin Turk: In Search of Ariadne, and worked with guest curators on several other exhibitions. She has edited (or co-edited) eight exhibition catalogues and contributed texts for others. As Curator of a College-based art gallery, she spends much of her time mentoring and training students. Prerona was a member of the British Art Network Emerging Curators Group 2020-21 and ran the Contemporary Art Cambridge network between 2019 and 2022. She is a Bye-Fellow of Downing College and a member of the Steering Group of CVC.
