Caroline Bassett is Professor of Digital Humanities, Director of Cambridge Digital Humanities, and a Fellow of Corpus Christi College. Her research investigates medium technologies and cultural change with a focus on critical theory, gender and technology, medium theory, and critical methods. Her publications include Anti-Computing (MUP, 2022), a cultural history of automation fever, Furious (Pluto, 2019), a collaborative work exploring gender, ambition and future technologies, and The Arc and the Machine (MUP, 2014), which explored narrative and computation. Current projects focus on AI and writing, artificial creativity, Science Fiction and future collapse, and on the politics and aesthetics of refusal. She is based in CDH and in the Faculty of English and contributes to teaching programmes in Film and Screen Studies, English, Digital Humanities, and Gender.
